I am the only IECA College Consultant East of the CT River in Central Connecticut, and only one of about four in the Farmington/Avon valley. My ICEA background has enhanced my success in communicating and developing trust with students and parents.
For over 25 years, I have been a strong advocate of adolescents and parents. I am certified by the CT State Department of Education as a Guidance Counselor Grades 7-12.
This background has enhanced my ability as a College Consultant in communicating, and developing trust with, both students and parents.
Most recently (2004- 2012) I was a College Counselor for eight years at East Catholic High School, Manchester, CT. Here I provided College Admissions assistance.
This included helping students determine the best college majors, and then developing a list of college majors. I also supported them with the college admission essay, SAT/ACT/FAFSA, early action vs. early decision, and many other related college search and visitation plans.
Prior to this, I served in the dual role of Guidance Director/Housemaster at Northwestern Regional High School (towns of Barkhamsted, Colebrook, New Hartford and Norfolk) and Director of Special Education at The Gilbert School, Winsted, CT. Many of my duties included the Common Application process, the college application essay, and developing a list of college majors for my students.
In the above jobs, I discussed Early Action vs. Early Decision or Regular Decision with students both East and West of the Connecticut River. This included working with students from Farmington, Wethersfield, Newington, Rocky Hill, Hartford, Barkhamsted, New Hartford, Manchester, Glastonbury, South Windsor, Tolland, Hebron as well as other Central Connecticut towns.
I am a graduate of Providence College, hold a Master’s degree from Clark University, a Sixth Year Certificate from the University of Hartford, and an Ed.D from the University of Bridgeport.
I am a nationally IECA (Independent Educational Consulting Association) College Consultant as well as a member of NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors). Members of both are recognized by College Admissions Representatives throughout the U.S. as reputable, ethical consultants in the college search, college help and College Admissions process.
